October and November 2008

So I just realized it has been a while since I updated this blog so I figured more of a pictorial update would give a quick 'rundown' (as they say in The Office) of what life has been like. In the summer, after participating in a mission trip to Yakama Washington a desire was put in my heart to help those who live closer to my geographical region. I was struck with the reality that you did not have to go far to find people who were hurting and in need. I have had the privilege since sometime in September/October to partner with the City Union Mission in tutoring with children in the community and recreation on Saturdays with kids in the shelter.

It has been rewarding and just fun!

Fall around Kansas is a beautiful time to enjoy the weather and the trees. Around the same time as starting at the mission Karilee moved into the upstairs of my house. She is the little sister of Will's best friend Brian who had taught him how to fly an airplane. This has been an enjoyable albeit at times difficult transition. I thought I would be married so having a roommate just is a new thought but she is so sweet and it has worked out great! Here I am trying to teach Karilee how to use chopsticks:-)

At the end of October Molly (red hair, Abigail, (one with the baby), and Mary Jane (the baby) took a trip to South Carolina. It was a great time just to relax and be with the girls! We had some stormy weather but enjoyed good time on the beach just relaxing and eating some great seafood. Abigail's family was so kind to let us stay at her place and showed us real southern hospitality!

At the end of November Will's family came for their yearly Thanksgiving trip to Kansas City. There were almost 30 of us in the house making it loud and really a wonderful time to be thankful. I still miss Will all the time. I think that will always be a part of who I am.
